Melbourne

Matthew is a law student at Deakin University and is nearing completion of his degree. He is a passionate sports fan who regularly attends AFL, rugby, and cricket matches, and is also an avid follower of international sport.

Matthew has long identified as a monarchist and believes it is important to understand the distinction between being a monarchist and a royalist. While he holds a genuine appreciation and respect for members of the Royal Family, his primary allegiance is to the constitutional system they represent and uphold rather than to the individuals themselves. He values the role the Crown plays within Australia’s system of government as a safeguard that helps protect constitutional stability and balance.

Professionally, Matthew works as an industrial advocate with a background in politics. He enjoys engaging in complex political and industrial matters alike, particularly where they involve challenging fact scenarios or detailed interpretation of industrial instruments. He takes particular satisfaction in analysing the finer points of workplace frameworks and contributing to practical outcomes for both employees and employers.
