The $5 note - A design by AML which includes the King

A Petition to include the monarch's image on a newly designed $5 note depicting Indigenous artwork.

Since 1913, the monarch’s image has appeared on Australian banknotes. However, on the 2nd of February 2023, the Reserve Bank of Australia announced that, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the image of King Charles III will not appear on the new five-dollar banknote but instead there would be a design totally celebrating First Nations peoples.

According to the Australian Monarchist League "why remove one to have the other? We have done our own design which clearly shows that we can have both."

AML Spokesperson and Australian of Indigenous heritage, Jack Barton, has said, "I believe all Australians would be proud of AML’s design. Unlike the Labor Government's divisive decision to remove the portrait of the sovereign from the $5 note, this design is a testament to the shared journey between Indigenous Australia and the Westminster Parliamentary system underpinned by our constitutional monarchy."

Here we see AML named ‘Unsung Royal Hero of the Week’ by the Daily Mail UK Royal Confidential programme for our five dollar note campaign.

Join the trend of support and sign our letter to the Reserve Bank of Australia requesting that they put the monarch's image back on our $5 note.

Thank you.

The Hon. Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia
The Hon. Peter Dutton MP, Leader of His Majesty's Loyal Opposition

We, the undersigned strongly urge that the Australian government and the Reserve Bank of Australia adopt the new $5 banknote design commissioned by the Australian Monarchist League as it accurately reflects the full history and identity of our nation and not just one part that may suit the government of the day.  We believe that the subject design is an example that both recognises the significance of Indigenous heritage while also honouring the role of Australia’s Constitutional Monarchy that has played a pivotal role in our nation’s history.

The Australian Monarchist League stand for a united and inclusive Australia, not the divided one that the Albanese government and the Reserve Bank of Australia appears to be intent on foisting upon us.
