Accession Day will also see a large number of buildings throughout the country illuminated in royal purple.  This has been organised by the Australian government as a part of its tribute to the Queen during this Platinum Jubilee year.  The buildings being illuminated are as follows:

 Canberra:
Australian War Memorial, Canberra Times Fountain, Carillion, Government House, High Court of Australia, John Gorton Building, Light Rail Stops, Malcolm Fraser Bridge, National Archives of Australia, National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, National Gallery of Australia, National Library of Australia, National Museum of Australia, National Portrait Gallery, Questacon and the Royal Australian Mint.

 Sydney:

Admiralty House, NSW Parliament House, Sydney Opera House.

 Melbourne:

Bolte Bridge, Docklands, Federation Square, Flinders Street Station, Cricket Ground (MCG), East Town Hall, Old Treasury Building, Rod Laver Arena, Sound Tube, Flemington,

 Brisbane:

City Hall and King George Square, Government House, Fernberg Kurilpa Bridge, Old Government House (QUT), Parliament House, Queensland Performing Arts Complex, South Reddacliff Place sculptures, Sandgate Town Hall, Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge (Gateway), Skypoint Observation Deck, Q1 Gold Coast, State Library of Queensland, Story Bridge,
