Prime Minister Announces New Ministry

It was on Sunday last that prime minister Albanese announced his new ministry and whilst he did not specifically say so, he had removed the Assistant Ministership for the Republic. This gave cause for monarchists to rejoice particularly as we had fought valiantly against it since its inception in June 2022 and had been rewarded, so we thought, with its removal.

However, our celebrations, I am afraid, have been short lived.

In typical Albanese sneaky style, there lies hidden amongst the new assistant ministerial appointments a new Assistant Minister to the Attorney General which was added to the duties of the Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, Patrick Gorman.

Wikipedia reports “the position (Assistant Minister for the Republic) was tasked with promoting the Albanese government’s policy of establishing a republic. It was the first such position held by a Commonwealth minister.

The position was replaced with a generic Assistant Minister to the Attorney General in 2024"

It is worth noting that the now removed Assistant Minister for the Republic also came under the portfolio of Attorney General.

Patrick Gorman is an ardent republican. As he is also Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, he would have constant contact with Albanese and they, together, would have ample opportunity to work out how they can best bring about the republic they have both cherished since they were students.

Therefore, the work of the Australian Monarchist League continues on and we can never rest for not only are we dealing with republicans, but also duplicitous politicians manipulating their deck of cards so that the real intention of the hand they play is hidden.


AML Can Never Rest

In fact, we will never be able to rest as long as Labor Party policy to remove the Crown remains.

It is therefore vitally important that all those that cherish our constitution and the freedoms that it underwrites continue to support the Australian Monarchist League.
