Details of our eminent speakers

Gray Connolly
“The Australian Crown and its Constitution”

 

Gray Connolly is a Barrister-at-Law in Coram Chambers in Sydney and practices mainly in public and Constitutional law, as well as corporations, insurances, resources, and Admiralty/Shipping law. Gray has advised the Australian Government on national security and public law matters and served as a Senior Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Gray taught Australian Constitutional Law at the University of Sydney and is the Examiner in Australian Constitutional Law for the Legal Profession Admission Board of New South Wales.

He was a Judge’s Associate in both the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. He is an Arts (Honours) and Law (Deans Merit List) from the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales.

Gray is a graduate of the Royal Australian Naval College and holds the Queen's Commission in the rank of Commander in the Royal Australian Navy. He served previously as a Naval Intelligence officer in Asia and the Middle East, including service in the Persian Gulf, the Indian Ocean, South China Sea, and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.


Morgan Begg - The Institute of Public Affairs
"What Monarchists Need to Know About Australia’s Proposed Misinformation Laws"

 

Morgan Begg is the Director of Research at the Institute of Public Affairs. He joined the IPA in 2014 to advance a major report into The State of Fundamental Legal Rights in Australia. Since then Morgan has also written a number of research papers, opinion articles, IPA Review essays and submissions to parliamentary inquiries, on a variety of topics, including the issue of judicial appointments, public health restrictions, the GST, and the proposed Voice to Parliament.

Morgan’s interests are in preserving constitutional government and the rule of law, and protecting and extending the rights and freedoms of Australians, such as freedom of speech and religion.

He will explain to us on how the Albanese government's Misinformation Laws could curtail monarchists in a future republic debate or referendum


Dr Neville Rochow KC
"I don't like to swear, but..."

 

 

Dr Neville Rochow KC is a widely experienced advocate and legal adviser. As a barrister since 1988, he has practised in commercial and related areas that include competition, consumer, corporate, and constitutional (public) law. His practice comprises project litigation, appeals, and complex dispute resolution. He has appeared at all state and federal jurisdictional levels including the High Court of Australia. He now specialises in international, multi-jurisdictional disputes, class actions, and human rights. He has been an adviser to an interest platform at the European Parliament in Brussels and undertaken research and taught at Mannheim University law school in Germany. With a broad interest in many areas of domestic and international law, he has appeared in inquiries held by Australian state and federal parliaments. He has also made submissions and spoken ay the European Parliament in Brussels, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, in the House of Lords and in the English Law Reform Commission in Westminster.

In addition to advocacy, Dr Rochow has published variously books, chapters, and articles on a wide range of topics. 


 

Reaching out to the Australian Chinese Community

Rachel, representing the Epoch Times, will talk on why it is import to engage with Chinese community, what is the major barrier to engage with them and how to break the barrier. 

Australian Chinese are the largest non-European community in the country and can make a significant difference in any future referendum. 

The Epoch Times is an international, multi-language news media company in print and online. It was first published in New York in April 2000 and an online edition in English was launched in 2004. Today it is published in 21 languages in 35 countries across five continents. Staff members in Australia often attend and support AML events.


 

BOOKING INTO THE CONFERENCE

We have been able to subsidise the cost for AML members so that there is no change from the fees charged for past conferences.  The fees are:

Conference: $120 for members.
Dinner: $110.


The conference will be a full day conference with coffee/tea on arrival, morning tea (tea/coffee, assorted Danish, fruits), light lunch (sandwiches, sweet items), afternoon tea(tea/coffee and cookies).

The dinner will comprise 2-course alternate drop of main and dessert with coffee & tea. Guests will need to purchase their own drinks.

Numbers are becoming limited and it is suggested that those interested in attending register soon.
