The Prince of Wales & Climate Change Action
The Prince of Wales & Climate Change Action
The subject of climate change and proposed human intervention is one that has created deep divisions amongst Australians. Whilst it is not a matter that falls within our mandate, we have nevertheless become enmeshed because of the advocacy of the Prince of Wales in promoting action and the resulting implications this may have to the future of our system of constitutional monarchy.
Members will be well aware that I have expressed concerns over many years to his Royal Highness pointing out that as he is carrying out duties on behalf of the Queen it is incumbent on him not to make any comment on any matter of controversy and that his future subjects would obviously have differing opinions on differing issues all of which he must respect whether he agrees or not.
It is important for us, the Australian Monarchist League to be aware of the opinions of our support base on this issue and we would therefore very much appreciate your answering a couple of questions in any, sort of, survey. This will help us plan a pathway through this difficult time.

A: I disagree with the prince of Wales as I believe climate change is not human induced but a normal cycle of the planet.
I also believe the future monarch should not be expressing publicly his views on these matters particularly as it is a very political issue. His views are damaging the Royal families reputation within Australia amongst loyal monarchist supporters.

A: We human beings are responsible for carbon emissions in the atmosphere.
The fact that the Earth’s temperature is increasing means that the atmosphere and natural environment are becoming damaged.
Therefore, we human beings have a moral duty to work diligently for the purpose of decreasing the Earth’s temperature, and keeping the atmosphere and natural environment clean.

A: I note that this question asks whether I agree with the Prince’s position on climate change, NOT whether he should comment upon it. That being said, all the theoretical science and observed data shows that unfortunately for him the Prince is not correct.

A: As a species we have caused mass destruction to entire regions, as well as the layers of ecosystems that exist on our planet. If we do not do everything we can to change this path, then we have killed our planet and ourselves. All good achieved by conservation and care will be for naught.

A: While I agree with the Prince I am very uncomfortable and unhappy with the nature of his participation in discussion on the matter. It is a politically charged issue and the nature of his frequent engagement in discourse around it is highly irregular and damaging to the monarchy.
