Welcome to the Australian Monarchist League, Australia's largest member-based monarchist organisation.
Discover why our constitutional monarchy protects the democracy of the Australian people.
Australia is a constitutional monarchy and Queen Elizabeth II is our Sovereign head of state.
The purpose of the Australian Monarchist League is to protect the Australian Constitution and Crown. For decades we have been successfully campaigning and speaking out about proposed government intrusions into our constitutional conventions and traditions which might weaken the Crown and the Constitution itself.
Some say Australia is a crowned republic. We don't. We are not any sort of republic. We are a constitutional monarchy and our resultant lifestyle is the envy of much of the world.
At left is the Queen's personal Australian Standard - in use since 1962. It is made up of the Coat of Arms of Australia with a superimposed seven-pointed gold star to represent the States and Territories. In the centre of the star is a blue roundel, garlanded within and displaying a crowned "E".
Around half of our members are under 40 years of age and many of our officials and spokespersons are young patriotic Australians.

Following appointment by the Queen, our sovereign head of state, the Governor-General, always an Australian, assumes that role as our effective head of state and Commander in Chief. Our system is different from most others. We have a Head of Government in the Prime Minister who exercises administrative control and a Governor-General who is more like a benevolent Trustee, well above politics.
