INTRODUCTION
The Australian Monarchist League has released the commemorative video, ‘Elizabeth The Great, Queen of Australia’ commissioned and prepared by young monarchists in honour of the Queen.
The video’s producer, Alessandro Rosini, 21, said “the tribute not only highlights the lasting relationship between the Queen and young Australians but also young Australians and their commitment to the monarchy”.
Of the Australian Monarchist League’s 52,000 supporters, 40% are aged under 40 years of age with many young Australians in their early twenties who are executives of the League.
“The idea that the monarchy is something that only enjoys the support of older Australians of Anglo decent is false. I am proof that this is a myth. I’m 21 years of age, of Italian and Greek decent, a Catholic, with my family living in Australia for less than 65 years.”
“I am the complete opposite of what a monarchist used to be perceived in this country.”
The Australian Monarchist League has four youth branches and has seen a steady rise in recent years of younger Australians who support the monarchy down under.
