Barbara Smith A.M. Prolific author and community advocate
The first TV experience was watching the coronation of Queen Elizabeth 2 live at the age of 9. I already loved and respected the monarchy, and was age 7 and at school when our teacher announced that King George 6 had died, and immediately said God Save the Queen. Australia's democratic system works well. When I look at counties that have moved to a republic, I can see that replacing Australia's system with a republic is fraught with danger.
